New York Comic Con Tomorrow!!!

Hey Gang,

So I leave for New York Comic Con tomorrow! I'm super psyched!

Remember how I told you I'd be posting videos and updates? Want in on them?

You can follow my Twitter (@LukeGoldHorn) and/or subscribe to my YouTube channel (LukeGoldHorn) if you haven't already to get my updates! Here's the first of many videos to come:

Please note I will not be updating via the blog, so while I do appriciate you following the blog, it's not going to help you get the updates on NYCC. I'm also really sad KingsIsle wont be there. I REALLY wanted to interview them or something! Would have been AWESOME!

Gotta run!

P.D.

P.S: Congrats to KingsIsle and Wizard101 for winning the Audience Award for GDCOA!!! Can't wait to see what they bring us!!

My News Gland Is Shriveled

Hey Gang,

So there's absolutely NOTHING going on in Wizard101 right now. There really hasn't been anything new to talk about for a week or two, save the new Mega Bundle Giftcard. So, I'm just going to talk about random scrambled things I have on my mind that are Wizard101, Blog, or Game Related.

Recently I applied at my local GameStop. On Wednesday I went and tried to apply, but the guy who I talked to said that I might have to wait until I'm 17 (another year) because he wasn't sure if the manager was ok with hiring a 16 year old. It was an issue with M[ature] rated games. But I didn't understand why it would be an issue for the following reasons:

1. I can buy/do buy M rated games if I have an adult with me.

2. I do play some M rated games, so I'd be able to talk with the customer about my opinions on several M rated titles.

3. There was one foreseen issue that involves GameStop Employee Benefits. GameStop Employees may sign out one Used Game if it is currently not in demand and play it for one week. There are used rated M games. However, this could simply be solved by not letting me sign out M rated games, or by having my mom come in and telling them that she will allow me to play it. I probably wouldn't use this feature much anyway.

So I had to go in and speak with the manager on Friday. It was quite funny, because she didn't even ask me any questions regarding age when I handed the application to her. She just took it and said she'd give me a call and let me know, so I'm passionately waiting by my phone.

I've also been putting the finishing touches on my Sultan's Palace for the party. Everything is crafted and in place; now all I need to do is finish up with the gardening portion of my house. I can't believe it's in 12 days! That's less than two weeks away! Also, only one person has officially submitted their entry for the Randomly Selected Featured Wizard, and no one has even registered for the PvP Tournament yet! If you'd like to register and/or see the prizes I'm giving away, please go here.

I also now have 59 followers! While I don't like to sit here and talk about followers (because honestly I think it's quite superficial), I'd just like to point out that I'm only one away from sixty! :) So thanks to everyone who has supported me along the way, especially Diary of a Wizard, who was in fact my first follower! :)

That's really all I have to post about

My Birthday Spoils

Hey Gang,

So I've been up to a lot lately! I'm so sorry I haven't posted for almost a week! I know, I know; I'm not one to say sorry for not posting, but it's been almost a week! But it's true; I've been so busy lately! I have AP Gov finals coming up on Tuesday and my state Biology Test coming up on the 17th and 18th. On Friday, I went to an Usher concert! It was awesome! He really put on a great show, and I loved his tribute to Michael Jackson. Saturday I went to Six Flags and rode the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world TWO TIMES IN A ROW!!! It was so epic! I've got some funny pictures of me screaming on some rad roller coasters :). I also went to see Thor, which, by the way, was an amazing movie! Really good job to the cast; I enjoyed it! Today I spent the day with my mom and made her feel amazing special like she really is :). I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day, and Happy Mother's Day to all the Wizzy-Moms out there!

With some fun things, some bad things happened too. When I went to Six Flags, I got a Season Pass, but I lost it! D: It was horrible! So now I have to see if they found it and if not I have to pay for a new one (only costs like $20 for a replacement). Also, I lost something very near and dear to me. When I went to see Thor, I took my awesome watch off and put it on my lap because it started bothering my wrist. I forgot I took it off, so I dropped it and left it there. When I came back today to retrieve it, it turns out someone stole it because it wasn't where I was sitting. It's hard to part with it, because I got it as a Graduation/Confirmation present and it was a really nice watch. It's really tough, but I can't do anything about it, so I'm trying to deal with it.

Anyway, let's get into some Wizard101 news! The Test Realm was reset back on Friday, and I haven't been daring enough to try it again. I decided that I'd wait until it came to the Live Realm. I've also been working on getting all my brothers, sisters, and cousins out of GrizzleHiem! Diana, Mycin, Patrick, Noah, and Valdus are all out, and Gilroy's left being the Lame Duck! I'm hoping to have him through by the time WinterTusk comes out!

Speaking of WinterTusk, do you have enough Crowns to buy it (If you're a Crowns player)? At my family's Mother's Day party, my aunt and uncle gave me a $50 Visa giftcard as an early birthday present! So I got 30,000 Crowns, which gave me a surplus amount of Crowns! I bought myself a Swift Shark mount (Finally, right?!), and I also bought a friend that's new to the game a Starlight Pony. That left me with around 22,000 Crowns; just enough to buy WinterTusk on both of my accounts! I'm also gonna get another 13,000 Crowns sometime this week, so I'm getting really lucky with all these Crowns I'm getting!

I'm sorry this post was kinda news-dry, but there's not much going on right not in the Spiral with the exception of the excitement of WinterTusk. I also just want to say thank you for all the moms who play Wizard101. You help make this community a great place by coaching us in the right directions of being polite and having fun at the same time. I'm thankful for every mom, mine or not. Thanks for coaching all of us, and to those that do not have moms, I'm sure she's watching over you, especially on this day. :)

The Life of Luke GoldHorn

Hey Gang,

So I'm sorry for being so glum on Wednesday. That whole situation just really upset me. Anyway, it's been a whole two days now, so I'm not as upset about it. I'm ready to forgive, forget, and move on. I also realized that being successful isn't being a recognized fansite or having a ton of readers, followers, or comments. Being successful is caring for your blog and having friends that support your cause. So I thank everyone who supports me, because honestly, I wouldn't be here without you (I'm not really too far, but it's a lot for me, and you guys deserve credit for helping me out! :D).

Anyway, so I guess I haven't updated you guys on my progress in game for a long time, haven't I? Well, I guess I should!

Oran's doing alright. He finished up Wizard City and is now in Krok. I had originally planned to post the last post as "Knock Knock Knockin' on Harvest's Door!", but then the whole fansite thing happened. But yeah, I'm REALLY excited to get into Krokotopia and MarleyBone! Arlen's been a little lazy though :P lol just kidding. We were supposed to start Krokotopia today, but I'm not sure if we'll get to, because I have some plans today (like painting), so I may or may not be able to log on later.

Oran's also been doing a ton of crafting! Crafting is actually surprising fun when you do the quests as you're leveling up. It gives me something to do when I'm waiting for Arlen to be available. :) Oran also started a tiny tiny bit of gardening. I've found, though, that it's extremely hard to balance your gold between gear, gardening, and crafting though. They all require much of your investments, but of course they're all well worth the costs! Oran will also be crafting the GrizzleHiem WatchTower Hall as well, so I'm extremely excited for that!

As I said a few posts ago, Spring gets me into a kinda "Newbie" feeling. It's during this time that I really want to level my really low level alts. If you asked me in December, I would have probably said something along the lines of, "Ugh, MarleyBone! So many bad memories!" But now? "W00t! MarleyBone! Let's go!" I've found myself asking at least two or three different people if they wanted to level alts, including Alric RavenSinger xD. So if Alric decides I'm not crazy and agrees, I'll probably be leveling another alt as well.

My other characters haven't really been up to much. Luke farmed some Samoorai for the Ambrose 2 Zeke Contest. Check it!

W00t! My favorite badge in game is the Yojimbo badge (I actually named Patrick's Hydra Yojimbo because I like it so much :D). So I was VERY happy to get Luke the Yojimbo badge. I'm also really hoping to win John SpiritShade's contest! I mean, come on, a Luke drawing? That's just straight up awesomeness! Gilroy SkullFlame, my Death Wizard, has been leveling a pet for my Myth Wizard, Noah GoldHorn, and that's been going well so far! Here are his current talents:

W00t! Who doesn't love Spritely?! So I'm really hoping this pet doesn't get a "selfish" talent at Spic or Ancient xD. That would be bad.

Ok, I gotta run! So much to do!

New Necklaces and Purchasing Problems

Hey Gang,

So there was some maintence early this morning going on in the Spiral! KingsIsle has released the new necklaces (you know, the ones that let you use power pips for Schools that aren't your primary School?) to the live realm. They also released a bunny suit and the mini game kiosks that were in the test realm (these items used to only be obtainable via the $40 Gift Card or the Auction House if someone sold their one from the $40 card). KingsIsle also said that the maintainence was the last of their sessions were they were upgrading their software. Does anyone remember the last time we saw a message similar to this? About a month before Celestia went to the Test Realm, KingsIsle made similar regular maintences, saying that they were "upgrading the system," which is true. However, if this is the usual pattern for releasing a new world/ new content, I'd say that WinterTusk will be here by late May/ Early June. Yay! New content!

Also, I wanted to bring something to the attention of people recently buying Crowns or a Membership. Anyone using American Express Gift Cards (and possibly Credit Cards, I'm not sure) to purchase Crowns (or a Membership, again I'm not sure if it matters) will find difficulty purchasing the item. This is a temporary glitch, as I was informed by KingsIsle, and should be resolved shortly.

How do I know such a thing is occuring? Well, I have bought 2 $25 American Express Gift Cards within the past two weeks (as that is how I pay for things like Crowns and my URL). I've been trying to purchase the Crowns, and it just hasn't been working. I've called American Express and complained multiple times, but it wasn't until later that I realized that it wasn't quite their fault with what's been going on. If I made my payment for my URL with one, then it must be the Wizard101 site that's having problems. So I sent a ticket in to KingsIsle about it, and they are currently working on the issue. Supposedly there are other wizards who have been having this problem as well, so if you are one of those wizards, please let KingsIsle know! It will help everyone!

In other news, Wizard101 Central's Video of the week is up! I actually really like these videos, and I'm really looking forward to watching it when I get home.

There is no gaming news from me today, as I couldn't play much last night due to an ill-wanted meeting that i had to attend with a troll. Basically I had to go to a meeting with my sister and my mom about a college and let's just say that it wasn't too happy for me because there was someone that I didn't like at the meeting. I did the right thing though, and while it may be hard sometimes, it just goes to show that the best weapon you have is your conscience.

So look for some news tomorrow about Patrick! And who knows; maybe there will be some Spiral news for us! See ya later,

P.D.

**EDIT: The Amex (American Express) Gift Card bug will not happen to everyone; some people may have no problems with it.**

Winners of Mount Week and More Announcements!

Hey Gang,

So before I even start off, I'd like to say congrats to every winner of mount week! It sure was awesome, and I hope a lot of people came out with mounts or even some crowns codes, as I know that they were also given out too! If you haven't seen the winners of Friendly's contest, check it out here. I really like all of them, and I want to give a special shout-out to Alric RavenSinger for his entry! I know he really wanted to win that Moonlight Pony, and gosh darnit he earned it! That Cockatrice pet is certainly outstanding!

Anyway, if you didn't win any mounts, don't fear! KingsIsle has released news of Mount-a-palooza! What is Mount-a-palooza, you might ask? EVERY PERMANENT MOUNT IS ON SALE! W00t! You can now buy any permanent mount you want for a discounted price; some are even 50% off! They've also added the Starlight, Starshine, Sunshine, and Moonlight Ponies to the crown shop, so get them while you can! I don't know how much longer they'll stay for (the sale lasts for about 9 days, and we don't quite know if they'll leave with the sale), so get them while you can! I really wish I could get the Moonlight or SunShine ponies, as they are my favorite, but I have two problems:

1. With this darn American Express Giftcard I got (I pay for my crowns with gift cards), I have so many pending transactions, I can't buy any crowns! :( Darn American Express! I personally prefer Visa, but my local convenience store didn't have visa gift cards (so much for being convenient!).

2. Even if I didn't have all those pending transactions, I could only buy $15 worth of crowns (7,500) and I kinda wanted to save those (the only one I could afford anyway is the Starlight Pony, ands maybe the Starshine pony; I don't recall).

Anyway, I really hope these guys stay in the crowns shop, as I would buy each and every one of them! They're amazing!

Along with Mount-a-palooza, KingsIsle announced that Mounts would soon be able to roam free in our castles! Check it:

Now, there are many things that are amazing about this video, along with the roaming mounts! Many people have already stated what's interesting about the video, therefore, I will only briefly go over what's in it. What I really want to do is some speculating. Ready? Here we go:

1. The music. Is this WinterTusk music? It very much resembles GrizzleHiem music, but it's not exactly that.

2. The pets. So it looks like there are some new pets. These pets are a Humongofrog, a Scarecrow, and a Kraken.

3. The plants. If you pay close attention, you can tell that there are some new plants in the video, including a couch potato.

So that'd pretty much all I can find on that video. Let me know if there's anything I missed.

Let's focus on the pets, as that's really what is interesting me. The Scarecrow pet I think without a doubt is the new level 58 pet. I mean, it just seems obvious to me (however, I could be wrong). What do I think about it? I think it's very cool; kinda looks ... I don't know ... maybe just a tiny bit cartoonish? I mean, maybe it's just because it's short. I just didn't think that it resembled the spell Extremely well, but I still love it :)

Now what about the Kraken and Humongofrog pets? Well, I went into the Spiral and did some research:

Notice that they are both learned at the same level. My personal speculation is that KingsIsle is also going to start incorporating other school pets into the game. For example, I may now get a school pet at level 38, or 22. However, again, I could be wrong. Just some theorycrafting here :)

What do I think of such a thing? AWESOME! It would be really neat to see lower level school pets; I personally think that after you complete your tour of Ravenwood quest from Ambrose, he should give you a low level school pet as well. So, for example, Ice would get a Frost Beetle, Fire would get a Fire Cat, Death would get a Dark Sprite, the list goes on. These pets would also get cards and would be school specific.

Ok, well that's all I have for today. Feel free to add to anything as you wish in the comments! I'll see you soon!

My April Fools Prank

Hey Gang,

So if you read my post yesterday and believed me (even after I blaintly said, "April Fools!" in the P.P.P.S), then you were fooled! That's my entry for Friendly's blog contest! What do you think? Good? Bad? Ok? Many people bought it, so I was under the impression that it was pretty darn good. If you look really closely, you can see the horse is missing a wing! Oh geez ... I don't even know how that seemed to happen. But yeah, it's fake. If you posted it on Central and people are telling you it's fake, their right.

That's kinda why I said I wanted people to wait until they posted it on Central; I wanted it to be more of a small prank than something that turned too big for me to handle properly. I wound up putting the P.P.P.S. up much earlier than I originally planned in fear that word would spread too fast and that I would get myself into a sticky situation. Anyway; one final time: it's fake. I photoshopped it on GIMP (took me a long time, strangely enough too; maybe I just don't have talent there). Please don't go around saying it's real, cause it's not. End of story. Laugh about it. :)

On a more exciting end of the news wire, I will have an officail web adress by the end of the day today! W00t! by around 5:00-6:00 P.M. EST, this site will be http://www.thepyromancersdigest.com/! (if you type it with the .blogspot, it will just forward you to the site, so that's fine). I will be submitting an email to community@wizard101.com tonight for my blog to see if it can become offical! If that happens, I'll become open to a world FULL of possibilities! Also, that might make the contest a bit more likely to happen! I'm so excited! :D Also, Gilroy SkullFlame, my Necromancer, is a bar and a half from reaching Legendary! I'm really excited to finish him off, and most importantly to get started on my last wizard, Patrick FrostHorn.

Do I plan on starting another wizard? Not sure yet; I might wait a while. I want to get my characters some really awesome pets, and I'd like to experiment more with crafting and maybe do some gardening on different characrters as well.

That's really all I have to talk about today. Don't forget to check out all the different mount contests going on this week, including the Turtle Mount Giveaway on DoaW! See ya around!

Exciting News!

Hey Gang,

So I know; I haven't posted in a while. I'm not gonna say, "I'm sorry I haven't posted!", because chances are, you probably don't mind that I haven't posted in a decently long time. Plus, no offense and in all politeness, my readers aren't my boss, and my blog isn't a job (because you know what they say if it is, right? ;D ). Anyway, sorry, that was a bit rude of me. I just felt that needed to be said. Anyway, so I'll probably spend this post talking about some new exciting events that have been happening around the Spiral! So, since I recently posted, I leveled my Life alt, Diana GoldHorn, to level 60! W00t! :D I REALLY like Forest Lord; great job KingsIsle for adding it to the game *two thumbs up*! I really like it, and I named mine Chewy; NOT after Chewbacca (I think that's the right spelling), but after the granola bar brand! :) Idk, he seems like a little critter that likes granola bars, don't ya think?

I think so :).

In other related news, I tried PvPing with Diana and I epically failed! I used to be great (specifically before the Celestian update), but so many new styles of PvP have come into play, that I've kinda lost connection with the PvP world. Soo ... yes, I'm not the greatest at PvP atm, haha :). Ask Alric RavenSinger how bad I was if you don't believe me. However, I am looking to start a perfect catch PvP team. Kevin BattleBlood has inspired me to take on many a task; one of which is to make a PvP team! I have a Legendary in every school except for Balance and Death, so let me know if you have any ideas (I'm looking to use Noah, my Myth Wizard).

On another note, Gilroy SkullFlame, my Necromancer, is currently questing in the Science Center at level 56, and let me tell you, that is my least favorite area as far as questing goes. The grinding is brutal, and none of the enemies wanna give up anything -_-. At any rate, he's moving along, and I hope to have him at Legendary within the next few weeks so I can get started on my last wizard, Patrick FrostHorn (who, surprisingly enough, is actually my second wizard, but my last to get to 60! Haha!)!

Mycin StarGem, my Storm Wizard, completed the Celestian Observatory! Now let me tell you, those last Crystal Street Lamps were a hull! It kinda reminded me of when Frodo and Sam finally make it to Mount Doom in the Lord of the Rings; when they have only a few more feet, they are weakest.

I had only 2 more Crystal Lamps to craft for a while, however I had great difficulty gathering the Sunstone (In my own opinion, KingsIsle should restore Sunstone drops back to Hydro-Mechs/Aqua-bots). Eventually, however, I conquered the mountain and I now posses a Celestian Observatory! I'm loving the house, and I plan to decorate it at sometime in the close future. *Another thumbs up to KingsIsle for adding this awesome house*.

My last bit of in-game news deals with Valdus GoldHorn, my Ice Legendary Wizard. As I've stated before, he bought the Island Getaway so as to experiment with the house. At first, I had a little somethin'-somethin' up and ready to go, but then, I had some people view it and ... well ... they thought it wasnt too well done. Now, I'm not sure about anyone else, but there' something in this house that just makes me see great, great, great potential with it. So I've been trying to redesign that. One thing that I like that I'm trying to keep is the idea of a Rain Forest.

That's really all the news about my wizards. In the Spiral, as many, many of you know, there's a timer that counts down to around 10 or 11 o'clock in the morning (CST) on April Fools day. People have been guessing at this for around a week now, and we've been getting everything from Level 58 pets to a new high-level tower to even things WinterTusk in the Test Realm (which, has, by the way, been denied by Lydia Greyrose). So I'm really excited to see what comes out of that!

I'm also thinking of starting a vlog! I got the idea from Kevin BattleBlood (I know, not original; sorry!). I think it's a really good idea, and it'd let me get some ITS time while updating my blog and the Spiral about my personal adventures and current events. So be sure to look out for that! I also might be getting my own web adress! Yes, that's right, this site might soon become www.thepyromancersdigest.com! :D woot!

Lastly, I might have a contest going soon! There are a plethora of contests happening with other bloggers pertaining to mounts. Some are simple, some are hard, and I suggest you try them ALL out! :D. My contest idea had to do with WinterTusk! I need prizes though, so I asked KingsIsle to sponsor me, so we'll wait and see what happens :). I'm hoping it's approved!

Ok, I have to get going! Ravenwood Radio's playing! I'll see ya soon!

I'm Turning Into Atlas!

Hey Gang,

So I've been extremely busy lately! I mean, don't get me wrong, the business is all good stuff, it's just kinda tiring, ya know? Anyway, how was your weekend? On Friday, I went to a cafe at my local Borders store and hung out with some friends. I spent Saturday cleaning my house for my mom's boyfriends's extended family. We were having them over for dinner. It was a good time; they didn't know I was a vegetarian though, so they slapped the biggest piece of chicken on my plate that they found in the pile and was all like, "DIG IN!" Haha! I was all like, "Um ... see ... I'm kinda a vegetarian ..." There was this really long awkward moment of silence, but then they all started yelling at each other for presenting me with the piece of chicken. Tehehehe, it was actually kinda funny.

During that dinner as well, there was some tortellini and chicken mixed with peppers and Alfredo sauce. I ate the tortellini, but it was kinda hard to make out whether the piece of food was chicken or tortellini, since it was covered in Alfredo sauce. Also, since I was in mid-conversation, I just kinda shoved a piece of chicken into my mouth without realizing it. I started chewing it, and thankfully, before I swallowed, I noticed it was chicken! I had to spit it out. It was bad ...

On an unrelated note to the dinner that took place on Saturday, I had a friend sleep over that night as well. We played a bit of Xbox 360 (which I hopefully will be able to play just for a tiny bit tonight), more specifically, Halo Reach (I'm almost a Captain! :D). After Reach, we watched some Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. I personally got half-way through the movie, and then I fell asleep, haha! I get tired easily! My friend continued to watch the movie, until he accidentally pressed the wrong button, and the TV screen turned blue. He tried waking me up to fix the TV, but supposedly I refused to! I told him I was probably sleep talking (which I tend to do a lot), but he said my eyes were wide open and everything! So that was really weird!

On Sunday, my friend and I finished watching the Fellowship and moved on to the Two Towers (Tomorrow I'm going to post my top favorite things about the Lord of the Rings as my post; irrelevant, but entertaining :) ). I absolutely love these movies; they certainly made my childhood. We got about 2/3rds of the way into the movie when we went to Border's cafe again for a few hours. There I bought The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. I've always wanted to read these books when I was younger, but they seemed too challenging, what with all the crazy pronunciations. Anyways, I started that Hobbit, and am currently on Chapter IV, where they are just leaving Rivendell (an Elfish city) to travel into the Misty Mountains. It's really good! I recommend to everyone who hasn't read it!

I've also been trying to make my life healthier such as:

-Eating less portions.

-Eating a lot more fruits and vegetables rather than junk food.

-Exercising daily (this includes a 15-25 minute run and a 20-30 minute walk).

-I've been trying to be mentally healthy by doing my homework sooner and paying attention. also reading more literary work (including my new English novel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn).

I hope life's been good to everyone! Should I talk some W101? Or leave us off with a irrelevant post about what I've been doing? Eh ... I guess maybe I'll introduce a topic, and I'll make it a "What Do YOU Think?" discussion:

So recently, I asked a question that appeared on Ravenwood Radio: "What are some of your ideas to incorporate more events into the community, such as double experience weekends for PvP or Pet Derby, Special events where you could get different gifts for going, etc?" (By the way, thanks so much Stephen and Fallon for answering my question!) Stephen and Fallon came up with two really cool ideas, such as holiday events where you could get a badge for attending and completing the quests that exist during the time.

So, what would you like to see? Would you like to see double experience weekends with the PvP systems? Would you like to see double arena tickets weekends? Would you like to go to special events (where only a certain amount of people get in) where you can get a certain item that represents you attending that event? Do you want special badges or items for completing holiday tasks? Or do you have another idea for an event?

Maybe we'll make a contest out of this? Maybe I'll send a code out there and enter the commenters in a random draw for a few wizardblox codes? I dunno; we'll see!

I need to go! I'll see you guys later!

New Things I'm Interested in on The Live Realm? Member Recruiting Advice?

Hey Gang,

So I know, the title isn't too catchy. Anyway, if you've been reading this blog for quite some time, you'd know that I don't really post patch notes. Sure, sometimes I'll have a link set up, or sometimes I'll talk about an addition or two; but I never really copy and paste the notes onto a blog post. Why? For two reasons: One, I feel it's an excuse for a blog post. Many people who copy and paste the notes don't write anything else, or their reflections on it. Two, because chance are some odd twenty people have probably already posted them, so what's the point in being 21st?

Anyway, so you can find the patch notes here.

It's funny; I first heard these updates were out right after I had put up a blog post on Monday, haha. I missed my chance to talk about it then. So, I'm coming to you now about what I think of some of the items:

1. Celestian Observatory: This house is a little small; the only reason I could think to craft it is because of either a) You like the surroundings, or b) You want the PvP circle. Now, the items to get this aren't too hard to craft ... my only issue is the SunStone. The only place I am able to get this rare stone is in the Chancel or the Trial of the Spheres (right now we aren't counting the Bazaar). And even then, only the bosses will drop it. So, you have two choices to get some SunStone in your pockets: either a) You farm the bosses until you get bored from exhaustion, or b) you spend all the money you're trying to save up to buy some recipes on the SunStone in the Bazaar. I'm starting to question why they took SunStone away from the Aqua Bots and stuff. Besides them, no one really drops it. In fact, I'd even be ok if the Aqua Bots only dropped SandStone; it still makes my life a bit easier. Anyway, off the topic of SandStone and SunStone, Mycin's been doing pretty well. He's almost there; he only needs 5 more Crystal Street Lamps (and he also just needs to buy the stinking recipe, so that means a lot of Chancel runs; hey, I'm always open to guests that can handle the dungeon). My overall opinion on this house? They way I see it, they could make three changes to this to make it better (listed from some-what possible to least possible): a) Make the reagents easier to find or have the recipes call for less of them, b) Lessen the number of items needed to craft the house, or c) Make the house a bit bigger.

Celestian Tropical Island Getaway: This is a nice little homey house. Now, if it were not for the floating rug glitch, in all honesty, I probably wouldn't have bought it on Valdus; I probably would have went with the Dragon's Fjord. The house seems really small to me, with the exception of the house rug trick, from, what I can see, extends pretty far back. I must say though; I REALLY love the Indiana Jones reference. That stone in the house is quite honestly amazing. One thing I've come to find with both the new houses is that they're kinda tough to decorate. With such little room (even though both hold 250 items inside and outside), it's hard to fit all my junk :P

No Caps Update: Now, this didn't effect me at all, cause i have open chat. So, honestly, I can't post my opinion on this, because quite frankly I don't have one. I can't have one, because of my lack of experience with the patch. Do I think it's right? Not necessarily. For grammar sticklers like me, this is very annoying. Do I think it's the correct way to solve the cursing problem? No, not exactly. People can still say all those words that sound similar to curse words; they just can't make it as obvious that they're cursing. You know what I think is the best way to solve the cursing? The report button! Remember readers; as Jester from Central says, "The report button is your friend," (Yeah, I don't like him too much, but that quote is so true). If you see someone cursing or using inappropriate language around the filter, report them. If you see harassment, report them. Now, I'm not saying report everyone for everything. I'm just saying that, if you see someone breaking the rules, privately report them (make sure you have the correct reason too! Also, you might wanna make sure your reason for reporting is legitimate). Also, another decent fix to making players' curses not so obvious is to only caps certain letters; for example, I's and/or the first letter of every sentence. Again, I don't think it's the best way to fix it, but still; if that's how they want it to be done, that's their choice.

I haven't really been doing much else really. I've had a ton of school work, and I'm also trying to get three friends to try the game out. I've got one hooked, but he's a mac user, and you have to buy the mac conversion form of the game. I've got another that's undecided, but is leaning towards no, which is kinda sad. I haven't even tried the last one yet, but I wanna wait and see if I can get the support of the first two before I try him for his money.

Also, I've been preforming an experiment for people who want their friends to join, but wont (people like me). The toughest people to recruit are people that are around 14-18. This is because, most of us kids that play MMO's around this age wanna see some blood, gore, and other things that rated T or even M. A lot of us want fast action. We don't really have the patience or time to try a game that's based on complete and udder strategy. Also, Wizard101, in the beginning of the game, is aimed towards younger children, which is also a turn off for teenage kids. It's only later in the game that they start targeting more hardcore gamers; worlds like DragonSpyre, Celestia, and even tiny bits of MarleyBone and Mooshu.

So, I decided to try an experiment. A while back (about two months ago), when I originally introduced Subject A to the game, I decided to play along side him to hopefully help him out a bit; because I know I was VERY confused with the game play. After I had Subject A finish his Spiral Session, he seemed OK, and he thought it was decent, but later he described it as "boring". So, since now (two months later) I have another two friends I wanna get involved (Subjects B and C), I decided to test something.

WARNING: I am going to go all Kevin Battlebloodish on you now, ahaha! No offense to Kevin; just a warning that it's gonna get a bit scientific.

Hypothesis: New players that join the game in isolation have a greater yet not completely successful chance of playing. Vice versa, new players that join the game accompanied by a current player have a lesser chance of eventually joining and enjoying the game.

*NOTE: If you observed, I left out people who try playing it in groups of new players. I'm not trying this until after the isolation step of the recruiting process. I would not guarantee, however, the success of this tactic. I'm making an educated guess that isolation is the best way to get someone into the game.*

Observations: While Subject B tried the game for a first time, I tried talking to him throughout his Spiral session, and I showed him some higher level spells. I also showed him some housing, which he seemed to like. However, he always had satirical comments to make about the game, such as how it's aimed for younger gamers. He didn't seem too attracted.

Now, Subject A (trying the game a second time) seemed to like the game better this time. At first, I wasn't totally under the impression that he was intrigued in the game, and I thought the experiment had taken a wrong turn for the worse. I tried my best not to play with him too much, only answering questions. This was also assisted by the fact that I was busy talking to Subject B. However, when we finished the session, he said that he LOVED it. He explained his bored looking face as being "too zoned in to concentrate on his facial expressions,".

Conclusion: So, if Subject A is not lying to make me feel better (I pressed him pretty hard, so I semi-believe it), my hypothesis was correct; the method of isolation has a better chance of manifesting a love for the game inside the new player. So, I'm going to try this attempt on Subject B and see how that goes. If this experiment doesn't work with Subject B, it will prove that this method does not work 100% of the time.

How was that? Haha! I tried my best with the experiment; Subject C still hasn't been introduced to the game yet. My method with Subject C is another method of recruiting; popularity. I know that even extreme amounts of initial isolation wouldn't help him. Therefore, I'm aiming to try and hook both Subjects A and B. Once that happens, I'm going to have them press him to join us. This is also another method of recruiting, however, I do not have feedback yet on this type, so I would not take this as a definite yes. However, it is definitely a good method if you are trying to get three or four other people to join, and you only have one or two others remaining. As someone once said, 'There's strength in numbers."

So I'll be sure to update you on that experiment! I have to go right now; I've been spending a fair amount of hours on this post ;) I'll see ya,

I'm Stormin' Into Stormriven

Hey Gang,

So last night, Diana and her questing buddy Blaine StormMender, Wolf IceHutner's brother, reached Stormriven! Hooray! Right now they're trying to beat up some Squidwards!

So yesterday I was talking with several people on Twitter, including Christina IceDreamer (@icywiz), Arlen DawnEyes (@arlendawneyes), Alric RavenSinger (@Alricravenwiz), and Paige MoonShade (@paigemoonshade). We were talking about reagents, and I suggested and idea that we should be able to "disencahnt" items, as Christina put it. Turns out, Christina IceDreamer thought of this idea long, long ago in one of her segements of Ravenwood Radio, so this idea has been around, obviously, for a while.

So what is, "disenchanting"? Disenchanting is when you have a reagent, for example, a Gold Pearl, and you break it down into it's componets, in this case, 15 Gold Pearls. Now say you need 108 pieces of Kelp, and you happen to find an Aether. Now, wouldn't it be easier to disenchant this item so you wound up with 15 pieces of Kelp? That would certainly be uber awesome! especialyl with things like Aethers, Golden Pearls, and Sun Stone. What do you guys think about disenchanting?

None of my other characters were really up to much yesterday. Even Mycin wasn't as avid about crafting. It's probably because of all the Sun Stone he needs, and the lack of enemies that drop it (I've heard that the people in the Science Center stopped dropping it, so I've been forced to the bosses in the Chancel :/). I did, however, record my segment for A2Z! I also offically entered my video for the contest, which includes a W101 inspired costume and some updated info! I'm really hoping I win. Chances are, though, I probably wont keep it xD. I'll probably give it to my mom.

Ok, so I gotta get going! I'll see you guys in the Spiral!

Spending A Snow Day In A Tropical Jungle

Hey Everyone,

So I have a snow day today! YAY! Thank you gods of the snow. So last night I was up till midnight EST questing on Diana with Blaine. Boy are they busy bees! Last night they made it all the way to the Stellarium! W00t! Awesome job guys! Then, not to mention, they made it through half way of the Floating Land this morning, due to a tiny bit of help from Valdus GoldHorn! Man, they are working it!

Anyway, while I was questing this morning on a tropical island enjoying the luxuries of a snow day, the jungle got me thinking ... what if the Floating Land wasn't originally like this? What if it was originally part of a bigger ... um ... well, mainland. Do you see where I'm going with this?

If you do, you realize I'm talking new world material. What if this island was originally part of a Mayan jungle mainland with a whole bunch of platypus or platypi, or platypeople, or ... whatever (Awesome Phineas and Ferb reference! ;D). This jungle could be much, much, much, MUCH bigger than the Floating Lands. The commons could look something like a grassy clearing with Mayan temples towering the area. Forest could surround this opening too. They could have beach area, like the Floating Land, jungle areas, cave areas, and even some under water levels. Some dungeons could be ancient crypts, or even areas as well. Imagine seeing a Mummypus! O. O

Now, how would these two places have been separated? Well, it could have been naturally reasons; the magical pulls of the Spiral drifted the part of the mainland further and further away until it became it's own island. Or, it could have been due to evil forces that had an ancient war there. Or, it could have been the Celestians, wanting to observe the platypus natives in fewer numbers. Or it could have been why all lands were separated in the Spiral; the Titan War could have had its toll with this ancient Mayan civilization as well. All of these reasons seem to be pretty cool.

What would such a world be called though? To tell you the honest truth, I'm not the best at coming up with names for my worlds. I mean, Draculainia? You have to admit, that was pretty lame. If you would like me to through something out there, then maybe something like Magyia or Incotopia (Incas, get it?). I don't know, do you guys have any ideas? Readers?

As for any new magics, I don't think there'd be any. However, maybe some new skills, like fishing or something? Or another cool idea would be a skill called Rune Stones or Enchantments. These would be special spells used on your gear that give you certain boosts for certain lengths of time. Or maybe they can add a level for our pets instead of us? I don't know; just spit-balling here.

What are your ideas? I'd love to know!

PLOX!

Update On My Game Time

Hey Everyone,

Well, I realize I haven't blogged in a while. I've had a busy weekend; I went to see Big Momma 3 at the movies (hilarious, great movie :D), then I had a MAJOR cleaning day on Saturday, and yesterday not only did I visit my cousin for his birthday, BUT I also got an iPhone 4!!!!! W000000t!!! I was and still am really excited! I had to pay for it, which makes me feel even better for it. While I probably should feel kinda stupid about paying $250 for a phone that's maybe gonna last 2 years, it was a great accomplishment for me; being able to feel like I bought myself something really nice (I usually buy really nice things for other people, like when I bought my sister an $150 GPS for her 17th birthday, and how this year for her birthday I wanna get us concert tickets). And today I might have to babysit my younger step brother. BUSY WEEKENDS!

Anyway, enough about my weekend. Let me get into what I'VE been doing in Wizard101 lately. Over the course of last week, I decided to level my Life alt, Diana GoldHorn. My friend, Blaine StormMender (brother of Wolf IceHunter, the infamous Socko) is leveling up with her! She recently beat Malistare, took care of the Grotto, and is now questing in the Star District. Cool beans! Also, Mycin has been to work crafting his Celestian Observatory! I recently (recently being this morning ;D) collected all of the Fire Blossoms, Acorns, and Aethers needed for the house! W00t! It is now time to hunt for pearls; White, Black, and Gold. I actually got to make THREE of the EIGHT required Star Chalices!

Look at that awesomeness! While I realize I'm a lot farther behind than many other people (hehe, that's an understatement), this was a pretty big accomplishment for me :D. I hope to continue my progress in making the items!

Well, that's really all I have for now. I'll see you guys around!

Gardening Comes Live!

Hey Everyone,

So, today gardening is going live! w00t! They were making the updates late last night. My favorite change with this update is the fact that not only will level 58 gear be tradeable, but it will be auctionable too! Now, many people don't like this change. It's probably because we're used to working for our best gear, and now it can just be handed to us with gold and the luck of the Bazaar. I personally like this change. No, not because I'm lazy (however true that is ;D). This is what I mainly want to talk about today; Auctionable 58 Gear V.S. Non-Auctionable 58 Gear.

So, let's talk about Non-Auctionable level 58 gear first. This is what we are used to; No Auction items that are amazing. So, why should the level 58 gear be No Auction? Well, it is the best gear you can currently get in-game (unless they are implementing new level 60 gear :D). Also, when the best gear is No Auction, you gotta work for it. Sometimes, it's no easy task *cough cough Noah GoldHorn*, but you may get luckly and get your items very fast *cough cough Valdus*. It shows that you are dedicated to the game and worked hard to get where you are now. Also, our level 50 gear was not auctionable, why is our level 58 gear auctionable?

So that's really all I can think of for why it should be No Auction. Let's look at the reasons for changing them to Auctionable. When the best gear is Auctionable, players that dont have much luck or much time on thier hands can get their gear faster AND easier. Also, with the level 50 gear, notice many of the differences. It gave resist to your own school. It also gave (unless you are Balance) your Rank 6. The level 58 gear does not give your Rank 7 or 8 spell (how cool would that be! :D) It doesn't give resist to your own school, and look at the level. Technically speaking, it's still "GrandMaster Gear". You are still a GrandMaster wizard at level 58. The only thing the level 58 gear gives (besides the boost on other stats) is critical chance and critical block chance. So shouldn't this be good enough reason to make it Non-Auctionable? No, because there is auctionable gear that gives critical block AND critical chance. Also, for people that have two accounts, if I get the Ice Hate, I can always Bazaar snipe that to Valdus now.

Obviously, I'm for Auctionable level 58 gear. You're opinion is what you'd like it to be :)

See ya in the Spiral,

"Exciting News! Oh, Exciting News!"

Hey Everyone.

Ny the way, the name of this post is one of my favorite quotes from Melre Ambrose (two reasons; one, he sounds funny, lol, and two, exciting news usually means something new ;-D ). So I've been very busy in-game recently. I've been training my latest and greatest Helephant, decendant of Madame Jack, please welcome Madame Jackson! Last night Madame Jackson got to adult, and recieved Pip O' Plenty! w00t! I'm still looking for Spritely, but I'm happy because those are two talents I extremely wanted to stay (Fire Giver, +x% Fire Damage, and Pip O' Plenty, +x% Power pips). Now I'm hoping for Pain Giver (+x% to all attacks) and Spritely (might heal you in battle). You know, it'd be pretty cool if you could get a Critical/ Critical Block talent for your pet.

Anywho, so for those that don't know, KI has been releasing several patches over the past few hours in the Test Realm. I really like some of the changes the made, such as being able to see your plants stay by simply scrolling your cursor of them while having the garden tab opened. And I believe they fixed the bug where a plant would disappear if you harvested an elder plant, so w00t! Luke recently got to Rank 5 gardener this morning. I have to say, I love the experience the Boom Shroom gives at elder (a whooping 50 exp). SWEET!

Also, I have to say I love the changes to Sun Stone and Sand Stone. I believe they will also be able to drop in the Trial of the Spheres, so I'll be doing that dungeon a lot more. I did a run last night, but I couldn't seem to get anything :/ Poor Noah, stuck at level 60 with no Legendary Gear.

So yep, that's pretty much all I have today. Hopefully I get some time over the weekend, to, ya know, actually do stuff, like get Luke through Celestia. Ok. See ya in the Spiral,

P.D.

P.S: Happy Friday and Hannakkah! (Sorry for the mispell, but really, I tried :-P )
